ראש חודש Rosh Chodesh is Hebrew for “beginning of the Month,” literally meaning “the head of the month.” It is the term used for the minor Jewish holiday marking the first day of every month in the Hebrew calendar. The day is set by the birth of a new moon. Read more about Roch Chodesh here.
Program/Order of Service
Priest: Christian Amparano
Opening: Reading and Prayer
Opening Hymn: Sounding of the Shofar
A Reading from the Psalms: Psalm 11
“In the Lord put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.”
Opening Hymn: Psalms 104
Opening Prayer: (TBA)
Welcome and Announcements by the Priest
Brothers and Sisters, I greet you in the Name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Ghost. We want to welcome new members and visitors worshipping with us as we gather to meet on this holy day of Rosh Chodesh, according to the commandment given to Moses.
In the Book of Bemidbar, we read:
“And on your joyous occasions – your fixed festivals and new moon days – you shall sound the shofar over your burnt offerings and your sacrifices of well-being.” -Numbers 10:10
In the 81st Psalm, we read:
“Blow the shofar at the time of the New Moon, at the Full Moon, on our solemn feast day. For this is a statute for Israel, a law of the God of Yakov.” -Psalm 81:3
This day we cease the businesses of the world and all commercial endeavors to focus upon the business of the heart, which is prayer to YHVH our Eloheim.
Declaration of the Witness
Reader: In ancient times, the astrologers would camp atop the mountain to observe the sky, and be the first to observe the new moon. They blew the shofar, declaring the beginning of the month. Christian, being the Priest, shall now declare that it is the new moon and the new month.
Priest : It is declared.
Reader: Because this is a new moon, and the start of a new month in the Lord, it is also a time for new beginnings and refreshing. Therefore, let us take a moment to ponder teshuvah, the way back, and cast our hearts upon YHVH, to purify our tabernacles as a dwelling place for the Holy Ghost throughout this month of Tammuz, beginning on the 11th of June in the year of our Lord 2021. Let us ponder on renewing our baptismal covenants as we partake of the supper of the Lord this evening. I now turn the time over to Ruth Mauldin for the Consecration and Renewal at the Altar with the Sacrament of Communion.
Consecration and Renewal at the Altar
Sacramental Prayers and passing of the sacrament: Ruth Mauldin
Statement on Communion: At this time, we welcome all present to Christ’s table. We invite all who would participate to do so as an expression of the peace and love of Jesus Christ, in whose name we worship. The Lord’s Supper is a Sacrament, a time to focus on the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As disciples of Christ, we renew our covenants and recommit together to His mission: to grow closer to Jesus Christ, as individuals and as a community, worshiping Jesus Christ through God’s Word, the Sacraments, ministry, outreach, Kabbalah, and jubilee. We encourage all that are worthy to receive Communion do so frequently and devoutly.
Scripture/prayer: Moroni 4:4 RAV, 4:3 OPV; Avahr 34:21
“O God, the eternal Father, we ask thee, in the name of thy Son Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it, that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son and witness unto thee, O God, the eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him, and keep his commandments which he hath given them, that they may always have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.”
Scripture/prayer: Moroni 5:3 RAV, 5:2 OPV; Avahr 34:23
“O God, the eternal Father, we ask thee, in the name of thy Son Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this wine or water to the souls of all those who drink of it, that they may do it in remembrance of the blood of thy Son which was shed for them, that they may witness unto thee, O God, the eternal Father, that they do always remember him, that they may have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.”
Sacrament Hymn of meditation: Shema & Gadol Elohai (How Great is our God)
Priest: We shall now have the Blessing of the First Elder.
Prophetic Blessing: First Elder David Ferriman
“May it be Thy will, YHHVH, our Elohim and Elohim of our mothers and our fathers, that You begin for us this month for good and for blessing. May You give to us long life; a life of peace, a life of goodness, a life of blessing, a life of sustenance, a life of physical health, a life in which there is revere of heaven and delight is in the Law, walking in teshuvah in a life in which there is no shame or humiliation; a life of wealth and honor, a life in which we love Torah and revere the Creator; a life in which the YHVH fulfills the requests of our hearts for good.”
[Blessing upon the heads of all in attendance as the Spirit directs.]
“The One who performed miracles for our forefathers and redeemed them from slavery to freedom, may YHVH soon unite us, gathering in those that are lost from the four corners of the earth; then all Israel shall be friends. May it be Your will, YHVH our Elohim and Elohim of our mothers and our fathers, that you renew for us a good month in our Lord Yeshua Hamashiach; even Jesus the Christ. So mote it be; Amen.”
Priest: We now open the meeting for personal testimonies, prophecies, revelations, songs, and sharing as moved by the Holy Spirit. The time is now yours.
(Time open to the congregation)
Closing Hymn: Rest On Us
[Offer thanks for new members and visitors for joining us and bless them in their pursuit of a closer relationship with God]
