Rosh Chodesh Iyar

April 12 - April 13

Iyar is the second month of the Jewish religious year and the eighth month of the civil year on the Hebrew calendar. The name is Babylonian in origin. Usually falls in April–May on the Gregorian calendar, it is a month of 29 days. Before the Babylonian captivity the month was called Ziv (see 1 Kings 6:1, 6:37). Ziv is a Hebrew term that means “light” or “glow.” Iyar was adopted during the Babylonian captivity as they called this month Āru, meaning “month of blossoming.”
