Good Friday is the Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. According to the Gospel testaments, Jesus agonized on the cross. During the last three hours, from noon to three pm, darkness fell over the whole land. Then with a loud cry, Jesus willingly gave up his spirit. There was an earthquake, tombs broke open, and the curtain in the Temple was torn from top to bottom. The centurion on guard at the site of crucifixion declared, “Truly this was God’s Son!” (see Matthew 27:45–54)
