We believe that a man or woman must be called of God by inspiration and the Spirit of prophecy and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof. -Fifth Article of Faith
Jesus Christ calls us both personally and through the Spirit of Prophecy. In revelation to Joseph Smith Sr., the Lord said, through the seer stone to Joseph Smith Jr., “if ye have desires to serve God, ye are called to the work” (Avahr 10:5). Through the same method, Joseph received revelation for Oliver Cowdrey that said, “whosoever will thrust in his sickle and reap, the same is called of God” (Avahr 11:12). Hyrum Smith, Joseph Knight Sr., and David Whitmer were told the same in a revelation given to him through the seer stone as well (Avahr 17:19, 19:14, 20:9).
In the Fellowship, those called should contact the First Elder, he may be reached at email@example.com. Currently, the Fellowship is a blueprint for nondenominational Latter Day Saints to use as moved by the Spirit.
If the Lord desires to organize the Fellowship into a church, he will call a woman to be the Elect Lady to organize the General Relief Society for the Fellowship and a man or a woman to be the Second Elder (2 John 1:1-2, CoC DaC 25:1c/LDS DaC 25:3, Avahr 18:13). These three, the First Elder, Elect Lady, and Second Elder, will become the first First Presidency, once the Fellowship is officially organized.
Until then, it is up to each Fellow to follow the Spirit as it directs them, and learn and grow as disciples of Christ. Each should share the Gospel as moved by the Spirit. This should be done with the mission of the Fellowship in mind:
- Grow closer to Christ through the Holy Spirit; as individuals and as a community
- Bring others to Christ; helping them find a branch of Christ’s Church in the spirit of ubuntu
- Worshiping Jesus through the Sacraments, Ministry, Outreach, Kabbalah, & Jubilee
“The Lord continued to pour out upon us His Holy Spirit, and as often as we had need, He gave us in that moment what to say; whilst at the same time we were enabled to convince the honest in heart that we had obtained, through the mercy of God, the true and everlasting Gospel of Jesus Christ; and occasionally we administered the ordinance of baptism for the remission of sins to such as believed.” –Avahr 30:4, 6-7
